Runs 116 minutes

Jack Malik (Himesh Patel) is a frustrated singer. His friend/manager Ellie Appleton (Lily James) keeps him booked up at fairs and other small venues but Jack is ready to hang up his guitar. That is until the world suffers a blackout at the same moment that Jack is hit by a bus. As Ellie nurses him back to health, it becomes apparent to Jack that he is the only soul who remembers the Beatles after the blackout (among other random things like coca-cola). Soon, he is singing the Beatle's songs and claiming them as his own. He becomes a worldwide phenomenon and best friends with Ed Sheeran. But, as his fame increases, he becomes distant from Ellie, his best friend who has always loved him. Soon, he realizes that his love for Ellie is more important than fame and fortune. Now, he must decide how to extricate himself from this complicated situation and win back the girl.

Ths Husband and I loved this film. Sure, there are some plot holes. But, if you just let yourself go with it and enjoy the music, you wil have a great time. Himesh is a find. He sings all of the songs himself and he has a clear and sparkling voice. He is awesome. Ed Sheeran is hilarious as his friend/mentor/producer. Especially, when he is trying to help Jack "fix" the songs and suggests Hey Dude instead of Hey Jude. Hilarious! Yes, it gets a little messy at the end but it is still cute and romantic and sweet. And, the music is so good. Everyone knows the Beatles had some great songs. But, wow! You will know every song. It is amazing how they still sound so good today. So, if you are up for a funny romantic comedy with great music, then this is the film for you. Go see it.
