Runs 90 minutes

Clare (Joey King) had a tragic childhood. In fact, she walked in on her mother committing suicide. Now, she is a geeky teenager, constantly embarrassed by her dad Jonathan (Ryan Phillippe), a junk collector, who is often spotted in the trash bins directly across from her school. One day, he brings home an ornamental Chinese box that he finds and gives it to Clare. She can't open it but figures out some of the Chinese characters (because she conveniently takes Mandarin in school) and reads something about wishes. So, on a lark she makes a wish about one of her enemies at school. When that comes true, she starts to investigate the box and learns that it should grant her seven wishes. What she doesn't realize is that every wish has a terrible consequence. Will Clare stop wishing before it is too late???

This was not a very good movie. It was not scary. It was really pretty boring. Not a good thing for a horror fick. I like to be scared and I like my heart rate to go up a little in a horror movie. I was fighting sleep in this one. Not sure why Ryan Phillippe was in this? He said he was excited to do a film his kids could see. I think they should skip this one and so should you!
