Peter Lake (Colin Farrell) is a burglar.  On one of his jobs, he breaks into the home of a beautiful, red-haired girl.  Rather than rob her, he discovers her playing the piano, they have tea and begin a romance.  Unfortunately, she is dying of consumption.  Peter willl try his best to save her but he is being chased by his former boss, a demon named Pearly Soames (Russell Crowe). He must overcome time and the forces of darkness to reach his true destiny.

Based on the novel by Mark Helprin, this is a sweet story of love conquering all, even time.  If you are able to suspend disbelief and just enjoy the story, it is worth the time.
