Kim Baker (Tina Fey) is a reporter in New York. She writes safe stories about things like the glucose epidemic and never has to leave her desk. When the opportunity to go to Afghanistan opens up, she doesn't immediately jump at the chance. But, soon she sees it as her only realistic option to write important stories and finally get on the air. She lands right in the middle of the chaos in Kabul. She embeds with the Marines and sees immediate action. She is hooked. And, as her fellow reporter Tanya Vanderpoel (Margot Robbie) tells her, she is a solid 9.5 in the "Kabubble". She faces danger and forges lasting relationships. She even befriends the Attorney General of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan (Alfred Molina) - only he really wants her to be his "Special Friend". She must fight for her position in Afghanistan. A big story will save her job and also reveal that maybe it is time to head back to the real world in the States.

This movie is based on true events. It is a comedy and a drama. The war scenes are gritty and people die. People party to let off steam and they all sleep around. Tina Fey is great. She is funny and down to earth enough to be believable. Margot Robbie looks beautiful no matter what. And, Billy Bob Thornton is still funny. It is an interesting look at the war in Afghanistan. It points out that we were trying to help the people but sometimes they really didn't want our help. Entertaining and well-done. Go see it.
