James McAvoy (Victor Frankenstein) and Daniel Radcliff (Igor) star in this remake of the classic tale, told from Igor's perspective. Victor finds Igor at the circus when he is trolling for animal parts for his experiments. He discovers Igor to be much smarter than his looks and he takes him in. He immediately performs a series of medical procedures on Igor and soon fixes his hunchback. Igor feels indebted to him and begins to help him in his quest to reanimate dead creatures. This all goes terribly wrong when they reanimate a "human" creature. Igor must eventually save Victor from his monstrous creation.
I thought this movie started off in a promising fashion. I thought the scenes at the circus where Igor is first discovered were dark and ominous. You immediately feel a connection to Igor. But, after that the movie is pretty dull. Victor and Igor form a bond and work on their experiments. It is not particularly scary or engrossing. It is well-cast and acted but that is just not enough. I would say this is one you can skip!
