John (Omar Epps) is taking his girl Brea (Paula Patton) away for the weekend. His buddy Darren (Laz Alonso) has come through on a magnificent, secluded mountain getaway. John hopes to pop the question to Brea. Of course, things start to go awry when the couple has a run-in with a biker gang on the way to their destination. They don't really think too much about it. Soon, they are swimming in the infinity pool and enjoying the scenery. Darren and his girl Malia (Roslyn Sanchez) make a surprise appearance, putting a little damper on John's plans. But, that is nothing compared to the terror they face when the biker gang shows up. It appears they think that John and Brea have something of theirs and they will stop at nothing to protect their dirty little secrets.
The Husband and I had a good time at this movie. It is not great by any means but it is fast-paced and it keeps you on the edge of your seat until the end. Paula Patton looks really good but her acting seemed very forced in this film. If you can get past that, then you can have a good time. The film is based on actual events regarding human trafficking. It is an interesting take on what and how this type of activity might happen. It is not a typical "slasher" film, but there is violence and death. Anyway, if you like thrillers that keep you guessing, then you might ike this one. Go see a matinee or something.
