Runs 108 Minutes
This film reunites Steve Coogan and Rob Brydon as they take a food tour of Italy. They travel to the most picturesque places in Italy...Rome, Liguria, the Amalfi Coast, Capri. Along the way they visit some of the most famous restaurants, eat delicious food and discuss Byron, Shelly and Batman. They banter with each other and try to top each other's impersonations of Michael Caine, Robert DeNiro and other actors. The movie focuses on their relationship as well as quieter moments when they are finally alone at night. This is a movie about food, Italy and friendship.
If you liked the first version of this movie, The Trip, then you won't be disappointed because this is more of the same. Steve and Rob (or slightly fictionalized versions of themselves) riff off of each other and are pretty funny most of the time. These guys have great chemistry and they can improvise with the best. The scenery is spectacular and the food looks delicious. However, after a while some of the impersonations start to wear thin and you just wish they would be themselves. It was nice that they threw in a few literary references to some of the great Romantic poets and their place in Italian history. This movie definitely made it look appealing to travel around Italy. I want to visit those places and eat at those restaurants, just not with Steve and Rob anymore.....
