This is a faith-based film that actually incorporates scripture into the movie without being preachy. It is like a modern re-telling of the life of King Solomon. Jed King (Allen Powell) grew up in his father's shadow. His father was a famous singer who did a lot of things wrong in his life before he settled down. Vowing to be different, Jed sets out to build his own career, singing at any venue he can book. At an annual wine tasting, he meets his future bride. Things are great until he writes "the song" that puts him on a collision course with fame. On the road without his wife, who is back home looking after their son, the winery and her ailing father, he is confronted with temptation. We all know what happens on the road. It is not pretty and he is left empty and alone. It takes a lot of soul-searching, rehab and forgiveness to get back what he had lost.

This is a pretty solid movie. The acting is top-notch and the music is terrific!. Considering that Allen Powell is the lead singer for the Christian band, Anthem Lights, he is very believeable as a singer and the music is just a pleasure. I know Jed's character had to go through his dramatic arc and return back to where he began but I still found myself a little annoyed with him. The movie is tied together with scripture that is narrated, almost like poetry, throughout the film. It drives the film without being preachy and really shows that the issues in this film are universal and have been around since Biblical times. The story is gritty enough that it should appeal to a cross-over audience. It does have adult content so keep that in mind and don't take the younger kids. You should defintely give this film a chance. Go see it.
