This movie picks up a few years after the original. People are becoming much more violent and creative on Purge night. Liz (Kiele Sanchez) and Shane (Zach Gilford) are stuck on the side of the road after their car is sabotaged. They are being chased by some crazy people when they run into Sergeant (Frank Grillo) who has just rescued two women (Carmen Ejogo and Zoe Soul) from imminent death. Together these people must try to make it through the night. They will have a long night ahead of them.
This movie is not nearly as good as the original. This one is actually a groaner. However, it gets so crazy that you can't help but laugh. If you really liked the first one, just be prepared to be let down. There are some interesting ways that people purge in this one and it does have suspense in between the ridiculous scenes. Go with the flow, laugh at it and take it for what it is... a cheesy sequel.
