Marnie (Susan Sarandon) is a recent widow and has decided to pack it up and move to Los Angeles to be closer to her daughter Lori (Rose Byrne). Of course, she is excited to spend more time with Lori and really has no feeling for boundaries whatsoever - "If you don't answer the phone, I'll just use my key and let myself in" no problem. A small problem for Lori, though. She is still grieving for the loss of her Father and doesn't appreciate Marnie's attention. Marnie is so sweet that she just lavishes that attention on other people, including her Apple store Genius helper and one of Lori's friends. She even accidentally walks onto a movie set and gets cast as an extra, meeting a nice man - Zipper (J.K. Simmons) in the process. But, she is also still dealing with her own grief. Is she ready for a new relationship? And, will she and Lori work their way back to each other?

I really liked this movie. I thought Susan Sarandon was just great! And, she looked fabulous. The movie is funny and touching. It uses humor in a gentle way to help the characters deal with their grief. Very well done. There is a nice resolution without being too pat. The Husband liked it, too so it makes a nice date movie. Go see it!!
