Runs 94 minutes
Richard (Pierce Brosnan) and Kate (Emma Thompson) are a friendly (though still bickering) divorced couple. Richard has just sold his company to a Frenchman and is set to retire and play golf with his neighbor (Timothy Spall). Kate is beginning to explore on-line dating. And, they have just sent their second child off to college when their plans come crashing down. Richard's company has been stripped of all value and he and his employees have been swindled out of their pensions. When it is discovered that the shady French CEO who swindled them has just purchased a $10 million dollar diamond for his hot new fiancee, Richard and Kate decide to crash the wedding and steal the diamond. They enlist the help of their neighbors and attempt to pull off the heist in the beautiful French Riviera.
Obviously, this would never work out in real life. But, it is fun to watch Pierce Brosnan and Emma Thompson quarrel like pros. The scenery is terrific and there are plenty of laughs. The plot is a little far-fetched but there are worse ways to spend 94 minutes. If you are in the mood to just sit back and watch two lovely middle-aged actors have fun in a mad-cap caper, this is for you.
