Based on the Nicholas Sparks novel, this is the love story of Sophia (Britt Robertson) and Luke (Scott Eastwood). Sophia is a college sorority girl about to depart for her dream job in a New York City Art Gallery. Luke is a champion bull rider attempting a comeback after a terrible injury. They meet cute at the rodeo and against her better judgment, they go on a date. On the way home, they rescue an old man from a car wreck. They grab his box of belongings from the car and rush him to the hospital. As Ira (Alan Alda) recuperates in the hospital, Sophia is drawn to him. She helps him read letters that he had written to his wife Ruth over the course of their relationship. He tells Sophia of his wife's love of art and his love for her. He explains that every relationship requires sacrifice. When Sophia and Luke reach an impasse in their relationshp, she turns to Ira for comfort. Sophia is scared that Luke will get hurt even worse the longer he rides bulls. Luke feels that he doesn't fit into her world of champagne and art galleries. With Ira's help, will Sophia and Luke beat the odds and face their future together as Ira and his beloved Ruth did?

Ok...This movie is sweet and sappy and silly and cheesy. But it is also very romantic. The people are gorgeous and the scenery is spectacular. The bull riding scenes are really awesome. You can hear the bull's grunts and snorts and see the saliva flying around. It gives you a real appreciation for the sport of bull riding and the intimacy between the rider and the bull. As is typical with Spark's novels, there is never any real doubt how the movie will end. But, there are always a few unexpected twists and turns and it is an enjoyable ride. If you are a fan of Spark's books or movies or just like a nice sweet romantic movie, then this is for you. Go see it!
