Runs 108 minutes

Harriet (Shirley MacLaine) is a retired business woman with plenty of money and too much time on her hands. And, she is a control freak. Her gardener doesn't trim the bushes exactly as she thinks he should so she just grabs the shears and takes over. This happens with her cook, as well. Soon, she decides that if she wants to be remembered as she thinks that she should be, she will have to help write her own obituary, too. She enlists Anne (Amanda Seyfried), the obituary writer at the local paper, to help track down her friends and co-workers for meaningful quotes. This isn't so easy. She is estranged from her own daughter and no one else has much of anything nice to say about her. Harriet learns that she is going to have to put in a little extra effort if she wants to be remembered for anything meaningful. Soon, she has taken a young disadvantaged youth named Brenda (AnnJewel Lee Dixon) under her wing and has taken to helping Anne with her lovelife. No one expected the genuine fun and friendship that would come out of this endeavor.

This movie isn't getting great reviews but it isn't that bad. It is funny and sweet. There are touching and heart-warming moments. It is also slightly predictible, but still enjoyable. Shirley MacLaine is a hoot and can still carry a picture. She is worth the price of admission. This film will not win any awards but it is a fine date movie or something you could take your Mother to see. The language is a little salty but other than that, it is funny and endearing. If you have time, go see it.
