Pioneer life is not for everyone. It is harsh, cold and lonely. Three women have been driven insane by the bleak conditions of pioneer life. Mary Bee Cuddy (Hilary Swank) a rare independent and single pioneer woman has agreed to transport these women back to civilization in Iowa where thay can be cared for by the local church. Along the way, she encounters George Briggs (Tommy Lee Jones) and rescues him from dire circumstances in return for helping her on this difficult journey.

I really liked this movie. You could truly see how difficult pioneer life was. I wouldn't have been one to volunteer to head west, that's for sure. The acting was great. Meryl Streep even shows up near the end of the film. The film is even a bit shocking in the last third of it. I wasn't prepared for this turn of events. Anyway, if you like great acting and good storytelling, then I would try to catch this one if you can.
