This is the story of M. Gustave (Ralph Fiennes), the legendary concierge of the fictional Grand Budapest Hotel and his protege, Zero.  M. Gustave is of a more formal time, with impeccable manners.  He is a full service concierge, especially catering to lonely old ladies looking for a little companionship.  One of these women, Madame D. (Tilda Swinton, in makeup that makes her unrecognizeable) falls in love with him and leaves him a painting, Boy With Apple, in her will.  This sets off a complictaed struggle with her evil son, Adrien Brody and his maniacal sidekick, Willem Dafoe.  The story starts in 1985, flashes back to 1968 and then flashes back to 1932.  It is a madcap story with a complictaed prison break, murder, and a cross county chase set against the backdrop of war.

This is a very funny and intriguing movie.  Ralph Fiennes, playing against type in a hilarious role, is great.  The movie is a vision to behold.  Typical of a Wes Anderson movie, it is a feast for the eyes. However, it is also his most relatable movie, while maintaining all of his eccentricity.  Definitely worth seeing.
