Runs 117 minutes

This movie is based on a Coast Guard rescue in 1952 that is still considered one of the most dangerous small boat rescues ever. Off the coast of Cape Cod in the face of a terrible blizzard, an oil tanker is damaged. The Coast Guard sends out its big rescue boat. Then, a second oil tanker is ripped in half. Bernie Webber (Chris Pine) is left with the small boat and a small crew that must navigate brutal waves and frigid water to try to reach the tanker before it sinks for good. Back on land, Miriam (Holliday Grainger), Bernie's fiance must wait with the other wives and the rest of the town to see if they make it back or not.

This is a really good movie. My only small complaint is that it is very "Disneyfied" - it is a Disney film after all. But, it did take place in 1952 when things were much more innocent so I guess that is ok. The conditions that these men faced were brutal, both on the damaged tanker and on the rescue boat. I don't see how you could survive these conditions. We just kept thinking how cold and wet these guys must have been. I didn't know the story so I was on the edge of my seat hoping that somehow everything would turn out all right. If you don't know the story, then you'll have to go see it to find out! Definitely worth it.
