Tommy Wiseau (James Franco) wants to be a famous actor. He meets Greg Sestero (Dave Franco) in acting class and together they decide to move to Los Angeles to make their dreams come true. Only, nothing comes easily and both get discouraged. Then, Greg starts getting some small roles and Tommy is soon jealous of Greg's small successes and his girlfriend Amber (Alison Brie). Tommy decides to make his own movie. He will write, star, direct and mysteriously finance the film, giving Greg a small supporting role. This movie, The Room, ends up being labeled the best worst movie ever made because a funny thing happens - it makes people laugh and goes on to become a profitable, late night, cult hit. This is the story of the making of The Room, and the hilarious behind the scenes hijinks that created this famous mess of a movie.

This is one of my favorite movies of the year. I wasn't so sure about it before I saw it. It looked a little off the wall. But, it is hilarious. James Franco turns in the performance of his career to date. It is the perfect role for him - a slightly bizarre guy with long locks (everyone wants to cast him as the villain vampire but he always sees himself as the hero), an unknown back-story, an unplaceable accent and lots of money (where did that money come from??). He goes for it and he is great. By the end of the film, we still don't know any more about Tommy but we like him all the same. The supporting cast, including Dave Franco, Seth Rogen, Ari Graynor and even a cameo by Zac Efron (hysterical) are all in on the joke and play their parts perfectly. This is a fun, eccentric, hilarious and strange film. It will make you laugh out loud. At the end when they show the scenes from the actual movie The Room side-by-side with the re-enacted scenes in this film, it is just so funny. This might not be for everyone but if you are an adventurous movie-goer, then go see this!!! it is just great. I expect this film to be a front-runner come Oscar time.
