Jill's Review

Opens August 3, 2018

Runs 105 minutes

A virus has killed off the majority of children and teens. The remaining survivors have been rounded up in internment camps. It appears that the adults are now afraid of these youngsters because they have developed supernatural powers. Ruby (Amandla Stenberg) escapes the camp and teams up with a group of kids including Liam (Harris Dickinson), Zu (Miya Cech) and Chubs (Skylan Brooks). They hope to join the resistance and gain back control over their lives. However, things don't go exactly as planned.

I didn't go into this film expecting much. And, that is what I got, not much. It is a very average young adult film. The plot is full of holes. I liked Ruby but I didn't understand her motives. Especially, after she and Liam became a couple. The film started off pretty good and had some potential but the good characters played by Bradley Whitford and Mandy Moore didn't have any screen time. And what superpowers? You saw like three people with scary superpowers. You knew where this film was headed from the very beginning. Overall, I was underwhelmed. I would say skip this one for sure. See Christopher Robin or even Incredibles 2. They are both much better than this.
