Susan Carpenter (Naomi Watts) is a single mom raising two sons - Henry (Jaeden Lieberher) and Peter (Jacob Tremblay). Henry is a genius and actually handles all of the finances for the family. He is the true adult in the household and Susan really relies on him. He takes care of his Mom and protects his younger brother. When he discovers that the girl next door, Christina (Maddie Ziegler) is being abused by her stepfather Glenn (Dean Norris), Henry devises a plan to help save her. Things don't go exactly as planned and Susan finds herself stuck in the middle of Henry's plan. Can Susan do what is necessary to rescue Christina?

Ok. This is an interesting film. To me, it was not the same film that was advertised in the trailer. I thought the acting was strong by Naomi and both of the child actors. But, I found myself a little dumbfounded by Henry's plan and the fact that his Mom was going to follow through with it. Not sure I bought that whole premise. I did like the film but I didn't love it. It wasn't what I was expecting. It does have plenty of humor and plenty of sadness. It almost feels like two movies in one. So, if you like Naomi Watts then you might see this one, maybe at a matinee?
