John Chester and his wife Molly got evicted from their apartment because their dog Todd had separation anxiety and wouldn't stop barking when they weren't home. At that point, they decided it was time to take a chance and follow their dreams. They purchase (along with investors) Apricot Lane Farms, 200 acres of depleted and drought stricken farmland. Their hope is to turn it into a fully sustainable ecosystem, with all kinds of plants, crops, fruit trees and animals. The film follows them as they work for eight years to turn the land around and create a working farm. There is lots of struggle and heartbreak. We meet Emma the pig and her best friend Greasy the rooster. Todd is ecstatic and he gets a couple of Great Pyrenees friends to help control the sheep. There is loss of life and the creation of new life. And, the Chesters finally realize their dream along with the help of a lot of people.

This is a pretty amazing film. It is awesome to see barren, dead land turned into a thriving farm. There are over 10,000 orchard trees and 200 different crops. There are bees and honey. There are all kinds of animals and livestock. This farm is an awesome place. But, it did take eight years of hard work and it will continue to take work to keep it thriving. The Chester's dream came true and this documentary is proof that these kinds of places can exist in the world today. This is a great film about nature. It is beautiful to look at and it is inspiring. So, go see it.
