Runs 90 Minutes
Franny (Richard Gere) is a rich philanthropist with a terrible secret. He barely makes it through his days, addicted to hydromorphone to mask the pain of an old accident. When Olivia (Dakota Fanning), the daughter of his oldest friends, calls up and tells him that she is recently married and pregnant, he convinces her and her husband Luke (Theo James) to relocate back to his hometown. He hopes to turn his life around as he becomes more and more involved in their lives. But, his over-involvement may be more than the new couple can bear.
I thought this movie sounded promising, with a pretty good cast. It was really just a vanity project for Richard Gere to show that he can still act. He takes drugs, gets drunk and cranky and argues with lots of people. Dakota Fanning is meek and almost invisible. Theo James has a few interesting scenes but not much else. The rest is all Richard Gere. BUT NOTHING MUCH HAPPENS! I thought there might be a sinister twist or somethng but just a fairly dull and bland movie. Don't bother.
