Jill's Review

Runs 127 minutes

Based on a true story, a gold and silver mine in Chile collapses and 33 miners are trapped underground for 69 days. It takes prodding by the miner's families and help from the government and other countries to finally carry out a rescue mission.

This is definitely an inspirational movie. With a standout cast including Antonio Banderas, Juliette Binoche, Rodrigo Santoro, James Brolin and Lou Diamond Phillips among others, the overall movie is entertaining and well acted. It does tend to drag a little in the middle when the miners are attempting to maintain order below while the rescuers work out a plan above. But, the miners keep their faith throughout and band together to keep everyone alive. The movie is hopeful and positive and there is a nice touch at the end involving the actual miners. Definitely worth seeing.
