Runs 112 minutes

Matthew (Joseph Fiennes) and Catherine (Nicole Kidman) Parker have just moved with their two children, Tom and Lily, to a small town in the Outback. Everyone in the family seems to be having a difficult time adjusting to the move. Tom acts out by wandering the town in the middle of the night. Lily acts out in less savory ways with some of the local boys. Everything falls to pieces when both of the children disappear in the midst of a terrible dust storm. As the days drag on, the temperature rises and circumstances become dire, rumors begin to spread about the family and possible difficulties in their past. Did the children run away or has something more sinister happened to them?

This movie hasn't been getting the critic's love, but I actually liked it. I thought Nicole Kidman did a great job. There were a lot of unanswered questions and people acted in ways that didn't always make sense but overall the movie had a thrillerish feel. It kept building and kept you guessing right along with it. I will admit that I didn't love the very end of the movie but right up until then, I was right there trying to figure out what was going on. This is definitely an "indie" movie. It was gritty and atmospheric. If you like Nicole Kidman and don't mind being left with a few questions, then this is the film for you. At least catch a matinee!
