Runs 99 minutes

An animated musical story of two worlds that collide over a love potion. The Bog King (Alan Cumming) rules the Dark Forest and keeps tight control over the primrose petals needed to make the love potion. He can't stand talk of love, let alone singing about love. Outside the Dark Forest, Princess Marianne (Evan Rachel Wood) has spurned the advances of Roland (Sam Palladio) so he enlists Elf Sunny (Elijah Kelley) to sneak into the Dark Forest, meet the Sugar Plum Fairy (Kristen Chenoweth) who is being held captive there and convince her to make a batch of the love potion. Of course, the potion falls into the wrong hands and a battle ensues for the potion. Will love win in the end?

I almost skipped this one because the reviews were so bad. I'm not sure why. The voice talent in this film makes it worth the price of admission and it is beautiful to look at. Evan Rachel Wood is phenomenal as Marianne. Her voice is so good. And, Alan Cumming is spectacular. I don't think I even realized this was a musical until I was in the theater. The songs are hits from several decades and mostly make you smile. This is a cute movie and the kids seemed to really enjoy it. So grab a kid and hit the matinee.
