This is a horror musical...my first, I think.  Minnie Driver is the star of Haunting of the Opera, a new Broadway musical that is earning her praise. That is until she is killed off by a slasher wearing the Opera Ghost mask within the first 5 minutes. Her adorable twins are taken in by her former Producer Roger McCall (Meat Loaf) who was also her lover. Jump 10 years and the twins are working in the kitchen of a Performing Arts Summer Camp owned by Roger. This is a camp for musical kids who come together to stage a show at the end of each summer season. We find out that Camilla (Allie MacDonald), the daughter of the dead Minnie Driver character, has always longed to perform and when Roger sees her talent, he recognizes a way out from all of the mounting debt he is facing. She will star in the summer musical and it will get picked up by a Broadway producer. Only one problem, the Opera Ghost has resurfaced and begun killing off the cast members. Will anyone survive to perform on opening night??

I love horror movies and I love musicals so I thought this sounded almost too good to be true! It was. I think it was supposed to be campy and it was, but I didn't think it was campy enough.  Some of the songs were catchy and the singing was fine. The editing was too jumpy to enjoy the music, though. And, the plot was pretty weak. You could see what was coming a mile away. There was no tension or anticipation. I guess I really didn't care enough about any of the characters. You won't be missing much if you skip this one.
