Peter Parker/Spider-Man (Tom Holland) is just returning from his first experience with the Avengers. He is psyched and ready for his next mission. But, Tony Stark (Robert Downey, Jr.) has other ideas. He wants Peter to take some time to grow up and just be the "local" Spider-Man for a while - help some little old ladies or prevent neighborhood crime or something. But, Peter is bursting with energy and finds it hard to concentrate once he returns to his technical high school. His best friend Ned (Jacob Batalon) finds out he is Spider-Man and this leads to some hilarious discussions. Only, Peter wants to be an Avenger. Meanwhile, Adrian Toomes (Michael Keaton) is running the project to clean up after the Avengers saved the planet from an alien invasion. That is, until a government agency swoops in and takes over the project. Feeling miffed and facing financial ruin, Toomes uses some of the alien scraps to make dangerous weapons and starts selling them on the open market. Peter finds out what is going on but can't seem to get anyone to listen to him. So, he sets out to stop Toomes/The Vulture all by himself. Can Peter stop The Vulture before it is too late? Will he ever be a real member of the Avengers?

I really enjoyed this film. I loved the enthusiasm and optimism of Spider-Man. I thought Tom Holland was perfectly cast. He was happy and excited to be Spider-Man. He was tugging at his leash to do even more, like a little puppy. I liked the fact that they didn't delve into the whole backstory of Spider-Man - the same story we have been told many times before. We know that story. This was definitely a funnier and more innocent tale. It is Peter Parker's coming-of-age story. There is typical high scholol angst and conflict with his Aunt May (a terrific Marisa Tomei). But, there is also humor and friendship and even a crush on an older girl Liz (Laura Harrier). I just loved everything about it. There is pleny of action but also a lot of heart to this movie. It is not a loud spectacle, full of noise. The action is exciting and purposeful. I highly recommend this film. Go see it!
