Jill's Review

Opens May 12, 2017

Runs 90 minutes

Emily (Amy Schumer) gets dumped by her boyfriend and stuck with a non-refundable trip to Equador. She still really wants to go but can't find anyone to go with her at the last minute. So, she convinces her super cautious and protective mother Linda (Goldie Hawn) to go with her even though Linda thinks it will be too dangerous. And, it certainly turns out to be the trip of a lifetime when Amy and Linda are kidnapped, held for ransom and forced to try to escape through the Amazon jungle. Considering that Amy and her mother are complete opposites, can they join forces long enough to outwit their kidnappers and make it home safe?

Ok. This looked funny in the previews - stupid funny, at least. The Husband, Nacho Kim and I all thought it was very weak. The Husband hated it. Nacho Kim and I had a few laughs (especially from Joan Cusack as a former Special OPS soldier). But, that was it. Most of the film was cringe-worthy. I was excited to see Goldie Hawn in a movie again. She picked the wrong one. Mostly, I just felt sorry for everyone involved. I'm sure they all thought it sounded funny. All of the laughs but about two are in the previews. This was just not a very good film. Skip it and see something else!
