Things are heating up at the border. When it is discovered that the cartels are now trafficking terrorists across the border, Matt Graver (Josh Brolin) is brought in to help put a stop to their plans. He is told to get the cartels fighting each other and maybe that would keep them busy down in Mexico. And, he can get as dirty as he wants. He calls in the mysterious Alejandro (Benicio Del Toro) and together they come up with a plan to kidnap the daughter of one of the cartels, Isabel Reyes (Isabela Moner). Only, their plan doesn't quite work out as they had hoped and soon Alejandro and Isabel are trapped on the wrong side of the border running for their lives. Will anyone come out of this alive?

The Husband and I loved this movie. I thought it was just as good as the first film. The plot is a little more straightforward - start a war between the cartels and get out of the way. Only, things don't always go as planned. I thought Josh Brolin and Benicio Del Toro were both great. I also thought Isabela Moner was really good. She actually cut her real hair off in the film - wow! Elijah Rodriguez who plays an American that gets involved in moving people across the border, is especially creepy. It appears that he may play a bigger role in the final movie in the trilogy. The movie is action-packed. I loved all of the technology, especially the way drones were used. It is scary to think of all of the crime that revolves around the border between the U.S. and Mexico. If you like fast-paced crime thrillers, then this one is for you. It would probably help if you saw the first film but you can probably catch up even if you didn't see it. Go see this one!
