Paul Giamatti is Lawrence, a Professor at Cal Tech studying earthquakes. He and his team think they have finally determined how to predict them. And just in time because the San Andreas Fault is about to go crazy and Lawrence must warn everyone of the impending doom. Ray (Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson) is a LAFD search and rescue pilot. He is called in to work when LA is slammed by an earthquake. His soon to be ex-wife Emma (Carla Gugino) is left stranded and Ray's first order of business is to resue her. Meanwhile, their daughter Blake (Alexandra Daddario) is being driven back to college by Emma's new boyfriend Daniel (Ioan Gruffudd) with a stop in San Francisco just in time for the earthquake to spread up the coast and ravage San Fran. When Daniel shows his true colors, Blake and a pair of brothers she just met are forced to fend for themselves in the destruction. Can Ray and Emma get to Blake in time to save her from the aftershocks??

The Husband, a couple of friends and I all loved this movie. It is CHEESY. But, it is cheesy fun. I love The Rock and he was perfect as the hero pilot. I thought the whole cast was great and Paul Giamatti was terrific as the voice of warning. This is not an Oscar movie. It is a summer blockbuster meant to take your mind off the heat and give you 2 hours of fun. Some of the plot is preposterous! How would The Rock even begin to find his daughter in the ruins of San Fran? But, who cares?? Get a large tub of popcorn, sit back and just go with it! Go see it and have fun!
