Runs 118 minutes

Joy or "Ma" (Brie Larson) and her son Jack (Jacob Tremblay) are being held captive in a small space they have dubbed "Room". Everything in Room has a name and a purpose to help the world make sense. You see, Joy was kidnapped seven years ago and Jack is now five and has known no other life. (You do the math on Jack's birth.) Joy is trying to raise Jack to be happy, educated and physically fit even as her vitality and patience are slowly fading away. In a desperate move, Joy manages to help Jack escape. But, can a terrified five year-old summon the courage to rescue his Mother when he has never even been outside?

This is my new favorite movie. Brie Larson will definitely be nominated for an Oscar. But a movie like this can only work if the child actor is up to the task. Jacob is a true find. There is already Oscar talk for his performance. He is a delight and heart-breaking at the same time. This is based on a best-selling novel. I don't want to give away too much if you haven't read it. This movie is so good. You just want to cry for these two people locked up by a horrible person. But, there is light at the end of the tunnel. So worth it! Go see it!
