James Payton (Ice Cube) and Ben Barber (Kevin Hart) are back. Ben is now a Police Officer in Training and engaged to Angela (Tika Sumpter), James' sister. And, James still thinks that Ben is a goof ball. James finds a hard drive during a bust which points to a Miami connection. Soon, he is headed to Miami to interview a suspect with Ben in tow. Ben is ecstatic to be out on his first case as a cop. James figures this will prove once and for all that Ben isn't cut out for the police business. Once in Miami, they interview A.J. (Ken Jeong) a crazy computer hacker who implicates Antonio Pope (Benjamin Bratt) in a widespread drug ring. The only problem is that Antonio is a well-repected businessman with ties to a lot of local business leaders. With the help of Maya (Olivia Munn), a Miami Homicide detective, they investigate Antonio but are thwarted at every turn. Meanwhile, Angela is back at home putting the finishing touches on the wedding and not very happy that Ben is still in Miami. If something doesn't break soon, James and Ben may be sent back home and Ben's chances of ever becoming a detective will go down the drain or they may never make it home at all, if they aren't careful.

I thought the first Ride Along movie was ok but not anything special. I thought this one was actually funnier. It has a plot and several running gags that are pretty good. Sherri Shepherd as the wedding planner is hilarious. And, Ken Jeong is really funny without even trying. This movie is not going to win an Oscar, but it is a pleasant diversion from the serious 2 1/2 hour Oscar movies out now. So, if you like Ice Cube and Kevin Hart and you want a good laugh, then you might want to see this. Don't expect too much and you might be pleasantly surprised.
