Runs 134 minutes

Jesse Owens (Stephan James) is a naturally gifted African American runner who heads to Ohio State in 1933 to run for Coach Larry Snyder (Jason Sudeikis). There he begins his quest to become one of the greatest athletes in history. He must overcome prejudice at home and abroad as he goes to the 1936 Berlin Olympics to face off against Adolph Hitler and his Aryan athletes. Jesse faces the toughest competition in the world and shows class and poise as he makes history on the world stage.

This is the true story of Jesse Owens and his quest for Olympic Gold. There are a few other subplots -  one involves Avery Brundage (Jeremy Irons) as a member of the U.S. Olympic Committee who persuades the other members not to boycott the Hitler Olympics and another about Leni Riefenstahl (Carice Van Houten) who has been hired to make the Olympic propaganda film for the German government. But, mostly the film is about the gifted and talented Jesse Owens. There were some interesting things about Jesse that I didn't know before the film. He was such a poised young man. And Stephan James is great in the role as Jesse. I also loved Jason Sudeikis in a more serious role. This movie is entertaining and will bring you to tears. I really liked it! Go see it!
