Runs 120 minutes

In 1984, it was a dark period in Britain and many of the coal mines were being closed. Miners were on strike and they were facing severe financial crisis. A group of Gay and Lesbian men and women decided that they should join with the miners in solidarity since they felt that they were being treated unfairly, as well. They began to raise money and eventually picked a Welsh mining town to be the recipient of their charity. They descended on the town and it was an interesting mix of people at first - tough, proud miners and a group of gays and lesbians. But, they soon found that they had more in common than not and together they marched to keep the pits open. Eventually, the miners lost and were forced back to work but a lasting bond had been formed between these two diverse groups of people.

This movie is based on a true story and it is very sweet and touching. It is also quite funny even though the subject matter is very dark. It is about people joining together to try to help each other in very dark times. The acting is great. Bill Nighy  and Imelda Staunton are wonderful British actors and Dominic West give a very flamboyant performance. Worth seeing.
