Runs 98 minutes

Nelly Lenz (Nina Hoss) has survived the concentration camps and is back in Berlin recovering from facial reconstruction surgery after the torture she endured at the hands of th Nazis. Her dear friend Lene (Nina Kunzendorf) has been taking care of her and helping her track down the financial reparations that are due to her. But, all Nelly wants is to be reunited with her husband Johnny (Ronald Zehrfeld) even though he may have been the one to betray her to the Nazis. She finds him but he does not recognize her after her surgery. And, even worse, he asks her to impersonate his dead wife and help him to claim her inheritance. Nelly goes along with him because she needs to know if he still loves her. Will love overcome all that she has endured or will she realize that he was never the man she thought him to be?

This movie is so good! It is very deliberate but every scene has an ultimate purpose that drives the film to its stunning conclusion. The acting is great. The title has several meanings, including Nelly's rise from the ashes to take back her life. I just really liked everything about this movie. It has tension and suspense. It keeps you wondering just how it will end. And, the ending will stay with you as you walk out of the theatre. Go see it!!
