Runs 102 minutes

A young boy, Pete (Oakes Fegley) is left stranded in the woods when his parents are killed in a car accident. A dragon he names Elliot takes Pete under his wing and becomes his best friend. They live a carefree life in the woods until a logging company begins cutting down trees near their "home". Grace (Bryce Dallas Howard), the Park Ranger, finds Pete alone in the woods and takes him to live with her boyfriend Jack (Wes Bentley) and his daughter Natalie (Oona Laurence). Soon, they learn that his best friend is a dragon which validates stories that Grandfather Meacham (Robert Redford) has told for years. When Jack's brother Gavin (Karl Urban) actually sees the dragon and tries to capture it, Pete must help his best friend and set him free to find his own family.

I LOVED this movie. I am a sucker for animal movies and I watched this one with tears in my eyes for half of the movie. The dragon was fantastic. He was furry and turned green when you pet him. His fur was gorgeous and blew in the wind. They made him act kind of like a dog. It was adorable to watch him jump and play and sniff things. Like I said, I am a sucker for animals and this dragon was great. Everyone else did a good job. The film is a perfect family film. There are some tense scenes and Pete's parents are killed at the very beginning so it starts off with a serious tone. But, soon you just fall in love with Elliot and his relationship with Pete. Loved this movie!! Go see it!
