This is the true story of Peggy Guggenheim, an heiress to the Guggenheim fortune who started with a modest investment and turned that into one of the most famous Modern Art collections of the Twentieth Century. She started small, collectng pieces by mostly unknown artists. She soon became friends and often lovers with Samuel Beckett, Max Ernst and even Jackson Pollock, among many others.  She was a colorful personality with an eye for art and artists. She was able to turn that into one of the most important collections of Modern Art in the world. Today, that collection is maintained in her famous Venetian Palazzo and is one of the most visited collections in the art world.

This was a pretty fascinating movie. I thought it would be a little slow but it was very entertaining and even a little educational. The director obtained the tapes of Peggy's last interview and those were woven into the story. So, we heard all about various love affairs and jealousies straight from Peggy's mouth. She was ahead of her time to say the least. But, in the end, it was all about the art. Peggy lived in New York and Paris and Venice. She left her footprint in the art world in all of those places. And she will always be remembered for her eye for Modern Art. If you like art, this is the movie for you. There are paintings, sculptures and even silver designs by all of the modern artists. Pretty good documentary.
