Runs 116 minutes

A spaceship containing over 5,000 passengers enroute to resettle a new planet hits a meteor. Some of the ship's systems malfunction and mechanic Jim Preston (Chris Pratt) is awakened 90 years early. He learns he is the only person awake and searches out any way that he can reset his sleeping pod only to realize that it is impossible. With only a robot bartender (Michael Sheen) for company, Jim begins to lose hope and the will to live. That is until he sees Aurora Lane (Jennifer Lawrence) asleep in her pod. Soon, he has learned everything about her and dreams of being with her. He tries to resist but eventually he awakens her for companionship. Of course, he doesn't tell her what caused her to awaken. They are drawn together by their mutual plight. But, can their love survive the circumstances that drew them together in the first place?

I liked this movie. I really liked the first 3/4 of the movie. I was very disappointed in the final act. The Husband liked it and wanted to know how else it could have ended. I'm not sure but the ending leaves a lot to be desired. The plot is great. Loved the spaceship (like a giant cruise ship). I thought it was funny that Jim only bought the discount package and was prevented from eating and doing various things until he figured out a work-around. The acting was fine. Laurence Fishburne makes a brief appearance as a crew member. And, Andy Garcia is named in the opening credits only to appear for 30 seconds of screen time. Don't know what got edited out there. Anyway, this is more of a love story than anything else. Some really cool special effects and Chris and Jennifer look great. I call this a sci-fi/love story/popcorn flick. Not bad. Go see it.
