Anne (Diane Lane) and Michael (Alec Baldwin) are wrapping up a trip to Cannes. Michael is a successful movie producer. He has been called to handle a problem on a movie set in Hungary. Anne has some kind of ear infection and doesn't think it is wise to fly. Michael's business partner Jacques (Arnaud Viard) offers to drive Anne to Paris where Michael can meet up with her later. As they travel through the French countryside, Jacques shows her the sights and takes her to delicious restaurants. She is anxious to get to Paris but Jacques urges her to slow down, enjoy the scenery and eat as much as she wants. Of course, he is a French man hoping for more. She enjoys the attention but really just longs for her husband to devote as much time to her as Jacques. Conversation and fine cuisine abound in this road trip through the countryside of France.

This movie is getting panned by critics. I guess there isn't enough action in this PG rated food fest. Granted, not much happens but Diane Lane is still beautiful and the food and scenery are both spectacular. The Husband and I both enjoyed the conversation and wonderful locales. I'm ready to head to France. Alec Baldwin makes an appearance at the beginning of the film, then he is only heard on the phone. More of Alec would have added a little life to the film but it was still sweet and enjoyable. And, it was humorous to hear Alec get a little worried about how much time Anne was spending with Jacques. Take a date or your Mom and just enjoy this light confection of a movie.
