Rick Dalton (Leonardo DiCaprio) was a big TV star. Cliff Booth (Brad Pitt) was his loyal stunt double. Now, it is 1969 in Los Angeles and things are changing. Rick is only getting small parts. And, it looks like going to Rome to film spaghetti westerns might be his only option to star in a movie. Sharon Tate (Margot Robbie) is starting to find fame in film and has married the famous director Roman Polanski. They live next door to Rick Dalton but don't know each other. Meanwhile, Charles Manson has gathered his group of followers, mostly hippie chicks, out at the Spahn Movie Ranch. They are ready to do whatever Charles wants them to do. And, the end result will not be pretty.

This was a good movie. Quentin Tarantino is a true movie lover. Every detail of this film was perfect. The clothes, the dialogue, the shows on tv and the movies on the big screen. He got every little detail right. But, that also took a little bit away from the film's momentum. This film is fairly slow until the ending. Quentin basks in his love of movies but sometimes at the expense of a plot. All of the acting is top notch. There are all kinds of cameos in this film which makes it fun. But, remember, this film is called "Once Upon a Time..." so there are some definite fantasy elements. The ending is not what you expect, except for the blood and gore. Still, it is a good film with some great performances, especially Leonardo and Brad. I also especially liked Margot Robbie and Margaret Qualley (as one of Manson's hippie chicks). They were just radiant in this film. Overall, a techinal masterpiece with just a little bit of something missing. Still worth seeing. So go see it.
