"Omar" is one of the nominees for the Best Foreign Language Film Oscar. It is the story of three boyhood friends who get together to plot how to strike back at the Israeli military for their occupation of the West Bank. They shoot an Israeli soldier and eventually Omar is captured and forced to work with the Israeli military to try to help them capture the shooter. This is complicated by the fact that Omar is in love with the sister of one of the friends and he is trying to protect her, as well.
There are several layers to this drama and Omar (Adam Bakri) does a fine job portraying the conflict that he feels. In the end, the film is very bitter and shocking. I still can't stop thinking about it. Worth it!!
