Runs 107 minutes

In his waning days as a senator in Chile, the poet Pablo Neruda (Luis Gnecco) is forced to go on the run in his own country. He is a wanted man because he is a communist. Inspector Oscar Peluchonneau (Gael Garcia Bernal) is sent to track him and bring him to justice (or not?).

This is the third film directed by Pablo Larrain this year (Jackie being the other one most familiar to Americans). I guess I am not a fan of his style. I did not like this movie. The film was mostly explained in voiceover by Gael Garcia Bernal as he made observations while tracking Neruda. His musings were supposed to be poetic but I thought they were just dull. If you aren't very familiar with Neruda's story, then this doesn't really add much. I'm not really sure how much of this is true or not. Unless you are a huge Neruda fan (he was a Nobel Prize winning poet), then I would skip this one.
