This movie is a Foreign Film nominee for the Oscar.

It is the beginning of summer in Turkey and five sisters decide to walk home from school. A stop at the beach with some boys leads to a scandal in their small, conservative community. The sisters live with their grandmother who feels that she can no longer properly keep her eye on them by herself. She asks her son Erol to move in and help her. He is distraught by the young girls' behavior and begins inplementing household rules. Eventually, the house becomes more and more like a prison and soon he is marrying off the sisters against their wishes. Each girl tries to rebel in her own way, but their Uncle Erol continues to tighten the reins and proves to be more of a threat than the girls could ever have anticipated. Will any of the sisters be able to break away and live their life wild and free like a Mustang?

I loved this movie!! It is so moving. It is also difficult to watch. These girls are beautiful and full of life. Their Uncle slowly saps the joy and happiness right out of them. They are completely at his mercy because girls in their situation have no real freedom. The youngest daughter is the only one who quietly observes everything going on around her and chooses to do something about it. She is so strong and amazing for a young girl. I highly recommend this movie. Prepared to be amazed and heartbroken. Go see it!
