Gerry (Ben Mendelsohn) is a down on his luck gambling addict. He loves to gamble and he owes money to everyone in town. He meets Curtis (Ryan Reynolds) at a poker game. Curtis is young, attractive and charismatic. Gerry feels like Curtis brings him luck. Together, they decide to hit the road and try to win enough money to enter a big stakes poker game in New Orleans. They head down the Mississippi, playing every casino and small stakes game they can find. They even risk almost everything on a horse race. But, is Curtis really what he seems? And, does Gerry really have any chance to win enough to reclaim everything that he has lost?

This is a decent movie. It starts off slowly but eventually draws you in. Ben and Ryan give great performances. I found myself groaning and talking to the film several times...NO! Don't bet it all! What are you doing??? But, that just made the movie more realistic. These guys are gamblers and they are willing to put it all on the line. Overall, the more I think about it, the more I liked it. A good look at what it's like to be a gambler who is willing to risk it all. This is definitely an indie film. If you like Ryan Reynolds and are interested in gambling, then this is for you. At least worth a matinee.
