Runs 87 minutes

This film documents the attempts by three climbers - Conrad Anker, Jimmy Chin and Renan Ozturk - to reach the peak, or Shark's Fin of Meru. It had never been done before and many climbers had either died or been defeated in their attempts to reach the top. This movie explores these three climbers' histories, what makes them want to put their lives on the line every time they go out to face Mother Nature and how it affects everyone in their wakes.

This is a very fascinating movie. It is actually filmed by Jimmy Chin and Renan Ozturk. These guys are CRAZY. They have done all kinds of climbs in the past - Everest and others like that. But, this is different. They must carry everything they need on their backs. They must rock climb, climb up ice and even free climb on a hanging rope. They camp hanging off the side of a mountain and eat only what they can carry. They are EXTREME athletes and this is what they do for fun. Their jobs are almost just as dangerous. I would never want to do this but I did admire their persistence. This is a beautiful film. It is nice to see that there are still parts of the world that are pristine and almost completely unexplored. If you like documentaries about overcoming the odds, this might be for you. Go see it.
