Runs 130 minutes

Twenty-five years after the original, Mary Poppins (Emily Blunt) is back to help the Banks children through a rough patch in their lives. It seems that Michael (Ben Whishaw) has recently lost his wife and is trying to raise his three children - Anabel (Pixie Davies), John (Nathanael Saleh), and Georgie (Joel Dawson) on his own, with some help from his sister Jane (Emily Mortimer). But, even she doesn't realize the severe financial straits that the family is facing. With the help of Mary Poppins, the family is able to find joy again and solve their financial crisis.

Let's see. This movie is sweet and entertaining. Emily Blunt is terrific as Mary Poppins. She has it all - she can sing and act!. Lin-Manuel Miranda as Jack was good, especially on several of the songs. But, he sure did grin just a little too much. It was like look at me, I am having so much fun and you should be, too. It almost seemed forced. The cast was good all-around. It was nice to see Dick Van Dyke make an appearance. He still has it even at 92 years old. To me, I thought the movie felt long. The fantasy sequences were ok. They were gorgeous to look at - the colors and the clothes, especially. But, this film just didn't hit me in the heart like I was expecting. There is nothing wrong with it but I don't think it will be a classic like its predecessor. Go see it anyway and take the kids.
