Runs 114 minutes

Five years after the first film, Sophie (Amanda Seyfried) is re-opening the hotel that her mother Donna (Meryl Streep) owned. Donna has passed away and Sophie hopes that she is honoring her memory by hosting a huge opening party and showing off the newly renovated hotel. She hopes that her Mother would be proud. The movie flashes back to Donna's (Lily James) earlier life and how she met each of the men who are now Sophie's three Dads. Now, everyone is gathering for the grand re-opening. Sam (Pierce Brosnan), Harry (Colin Firth) and Bill (Stellan Skarsgard) are excited to support Sophie. An unexpected guest, Sophie's grandmother Ruby (Cher), makes a surprise appearance. And, Sophie has a surprise announcement. Set against Abba's tunes, just like the first film, this is a musical comedy that will get your toes-tapping and have you singing along.

I loved this movie. It is gorgeous to look at and the music is fantastic. I have to say that Lily James is gorgeous. She is an amazing singer and dancer. You can't take your eyes off of her whenever she is on the screen. I loved her! The music is so good. Everyone sounds great. No one embarrasses themselves like the first film - yes I am talking to you Pierce Brosnan! He only sings a short solo tune and he is much better although his dancing still seems a little forced. I guess Meryl Streep had a scheduling conflict so they built the story around her death. Fear not, she does make a cameo. And, Cher! She makes an appearance near the end of the film and sounds great. I loved all of the characters. I loved seeing everyone back from the first film. Dominic Cooper even has a little solo. Nice! This film is happy and fun and full of beautiful people and great music. What is there not to like? If you were a fan of the first film then you will like this one. If you didn't see the first one or weren't a big fan, no problem. Go see this one anyway! I loved it!!!
