This is Woody Allen's latest movie. It is a breezy romantic comedy set in the 1920's French Riveria. Stanley (Colin Firth) is a famous magician who knows that every trick he performs has a logical and rartional explanation. There is no real "magic". He is summoned to the South of France to help expose a young women who claims to have psychic powers and may be swindling a wealthy family. Sophie (Emma Stone) is holding seances and revealing things about various people that she just couldn't possibly know. She has the younger son of the family, Brice (Hamish Linklater) desperately in love with her and about to propose marriage. Stanley observes her and begins to fall under her spell, as well, even as he rationally knows better. Is she a fraud? Will she be exposed or will Stanley come to believe in Sophie's ability?

This is a cute, romantic comedy. It is quite funny and Colin Firth can throw off the snide comment with the best of them. The movie is very witty and Colin and Emma have great chemistry. Emma Stone effortlessly holds her own with Colin and you can easily overlook their age difference. Don't expect anything deep. You can see the conclusion a mile away but it is a fun romp getting there. Not a bad way to spend an afternoon.
