Runs 120 minutes

In an uninhabitable landscape, where the people are miserable and forced to fight for even the smallest amount of water, there is no hope. Immortan Joe (Hugh Keays-Byrne) rules with an iron fist - until Imperator Furiosa (Charlize Theron) rescues the "Five Wives" from Joe's clutches and sets out on a journey across the apocalyptic desert to her homeland - the Green Place, where maybe they can find hope once again. The Five wives are the Breeders, the future of the race and Joe immediately sends his War Boys out to get them back. Meanwhile, Max (Tom Hardy) has been captured and put into service as a human "blood bag" for one of the ailing war boys, Nux (Nicholas Hoult) who straps Max to the front of one of the chase vehicles and heads out to capture Furiosa. Eventually, Max is able to get free and team up with Furiosa to get the Five Wives to safety. The future of the human race is in the hands of Max and Furiosa as they careen across the barren and dangerous wasteland and try to outrun Joe's deranged war boys.

This is a spectacular movie. From the atmosphere to the chaotic chase scenes, the film is unrelenting. But, there is a deeper story and characters that you hope come out alive. There is not a lot of dialogue (everyone is too busy holding on for dear life), but these actors are all able to convey quite a bit with just their facial expressions. Charlize Theron and Tom Hardy are both great! The creativity of this film is remarkable. The barren wasteland, the dirt and sand and clouds of dust and the crazy vehicles that are chasing each other through the desert are unbelievable. The stunts will leave you amazed and most of this is not CGI, but real stunt work. I wasn't sure if I was going to like this. I thought it might be a little over the top. Well, it is over the top but in all the right ways. If you remember the old Mad Max films and liked them, then you should really like this one. If you never saw the old ones, then you are in for a wild ride. Go see this movie.
