Simon (Nick Robinson) has a great family. Mom - Emily (Jennifer Garner) and Dad - Jack (Josh Duhamel) are the All-American couple. Dad was a football star and Mom was the hot valedictorian. His sister Nora (Talitha Bateman) is the next Julia Child. He has great long-time friends. Leah (Katherine Langford) and Nick (Jorge Lendeborg, Jr.) have been his pals since grade school and Abby (Alexandra Shipp) has recently joined their circle. He has a happy life but he also has a big secret - he is gay. And he yearns to be loved liked everyone else. He begins a correspondence with a another gay student via email. He only knows this student by the name of Blue. Simon longs to discover this student's identity. Then something forces Simon's hand and he must admit who he really is to his family and friends. Will Blue join him out in the open or will Simon never discover Blue's identity?

This is a very sweet movie. Everyone is attractive and entertaining. The whole high school is almost too perfect. But, Nick Robinson does a great job at being a teen. He is happy and anguished at the same time. I'm not sure why it was so hard for him to come out. His friends and his parents are supportive. In today's climate it wouldn't seem to be that big of a deal. But, Simon claims that he doesn't want anything to change with his friends and family so he keeps his secret as long as he can. I thought everyone did a good job and the movie as a whole was funny and endearing. It is probably not appropriate for younger kids but it is pretty tame for older teens. Enjoyable and entertaining. Go see it.
