Jill's Review

Opens July 2014

Runs 120 minutes

This is a documentary about the life and times of Roger Ebert. It chronicles his career as Pulitzer Prize winning movie critic to his long running movie review show with Gene Siskel. It reflects how he came to be the movie voice of our generation, how he loved and competed with Gene Siskel and finally how he handled his agonizing battle with cancer. This movie is at times funny, sad, heart-warming and inspiring. The movie ends when Roger finally succumbs to his battle with cancer but his love of the movies lives on.

This is one of the best documentaries out there. It is often difficult to watch because Roger's cancer was in his jaw and eventually he had to have it removed along with his ability to speak. But, he still continued on with the help of his beloved wife and his computer. This is a great look back at his career and how he was influenced by the movies he reviewed and how he influenced a generation of movie watchers. Go see it! Two Thumbs up!!
